I was pursuing the news this morning when I came across a wonderful little article about women who are showing off their stretch marks in pride on Instagram using the hashtag #loveyourlines.
And it’s about ruddy time too, women should applaud and cheer their natural beauty. Stretch marks are so common place; you get them with puberty and growth spurts, when you lose and/or gain weight. You get them at very special times in your life like when you have a child, they happen at any size and any age.
Your role models get them.
Your stretch marks tell a story, they are your war wounds, your battle marks. You’ve earned them.
It’s so refreshing to see a story in the media that is putting the female body in such a positive light. Often is the case that it is the other way around, and the female form is the focus of over-criticism. I commend these women, for lack of a better word, being brave and giving the world two fingers and saying with absolute pride, ‘’I love my body, I am beautiful.’’
Body acceptance is becoming more and more well received and admired now than it did even just a few years ago. We are at a pioneering time now, and who knows how long it will be until the media and women/people in general can move forward and we can put prejudice behind us. We are all unique, we are all beautiful, it’s about time we all celebrated that 🙂
